I was doing my casual checking of twitter yesterday when an officemate sent a tweet that Dancho Danchev is missing. I initially thought it was a joke, but I also noted that I seem cannot remember getting RSS update from his blog lately. Checking the net I confirmed that the news is true as Ryan Naraine posted something at ZDNet Zero Day blog regarding Dancho Danchev‘s mysterious disappearance since last year.

For those not into computer and network security stuff, Dancho Danchev is an independent security researcher, cybercrime expert and blogger. He is known for his no-holds-barred cyber crime exposés posted in his personal blog (http://ddanchev.blogspot.com) and in ZDNet Zero Day Blog.
I am really impressed with the vast security knowledge of Mr. Danchev and with the granular details of the network security incidents that he has shared in his blog, so I subscribed in his RSS feed and followed him in Twitter too. So for me it’s really sad that one of the good guys is reportedly missing (under mysterious circumstances). I’ll skip with the conspiracy theories, but his exposé have really earned him a lot of enemies (very powerful ones if I may say).
The news that he is in native Bulgaria and is being spied upon by local authorities is very interesting and saddening at the same. I just hope that Dancho Danchev will be found safe and well soon.
Update: I heard some unconfirmed reports that Danchev was confirmed to be in Bulgaria and is in a psychiatric hospital. Highly unbelievable!!!
Time to read more and know the real story…
