I believe the event will be a good venue to learn new stuffs, meet and greet other bloggers and interact with the… Read the rest of this entry »

Last night, I got some news that WordPress 3.0 is now available. As it was already late and I’m feeling a little bit sleepy I just triggered a backup creation for my blog so that in the morning it will be ready to update.
I updated this blog to WordPress 3.0 this morning and found the new WordPress build cool. The update was smooth and the new admin console… Read the rest of this entry »

Congratulations to Wordpress for winning the Overall Best Open Source CMS Award in the 2009 Open Source CMS Awards. I first heard of the new from a twit from Beau Lebens which I RT’d and then read about it in the Wordpress blog post by Matt.
Wordpress is popularly known as a blog platform but it can be a powerful CMS tool. This is one of the… Read the rest of this entry »

I had some great time at WorkCampPH 2009 yesterday at the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) in Makati. The event was organized by MindanaoBloggers.com folks. This was my 2nd blogger event (first one was the Nuffnang and Goldilocks event at the Fort last month). Some highlights:

I updated to Wordpress 2.8.4 security release today. It was quite a challenge since internet connection in Manila is slow due to some underwater cables connecting the internet infrastructure in Asia was damaged. I updated to Wordpress 2.8.2 today. I know it’s been 2 weeks since I updated to 2.8.1 and you might be wondering why the WP updates seems so fast nowadays. Quoting official wordpress site:
WordPress 2.8.2 fixes an XSS vulnerability. Comment author URLs were not fully sanitized when displayed in the admin. This could be exploited to redirect you away from the admin to another site. Download 2.8.2 or… Read the rest of this entry »

Just after 3 weeks of updating to Wordpress 2.8, I updated to 2.8.1 this weekend. I make it a point to update as soon as I have extra time since updating to the latest version is a good security practice for the blog.
I also updated my about page and created a blog disclosure policy page. What’s that blog disclosure policy stuff? It’s some sort of a… Read the rest of this entry »

I updated Menardconnect.com to Wordpress 2.8 over the weekend. The Wordpress.org site announced that this release is named in honor of noted trumpeter and vocalist Chet Baker. Major improvements to the 2.8 release were focused on speed, performance, widgets and themes support. The general look and feel is the same as 2.7x, but I noted some improvements on the admin console performance.
After updating, I also tweaked some settings… Read the rest of this entry »

As suggested by Matt in his Thank a Plugin Developer Day post in Wordpress.org, I took some time off the usual tasks and went to WP plugin and theme developers site and contact page and sent some thank you notes. I have not thanked all yet so I hope it can be a week for thank you’s and not just a day. Sorry guys, its just thank you notes… Read the rest of this entry »
