Last night, I got some news that WordPress 3.0 is now available. As it was already late and I’m feeling a little bit sleepy I just triggered a backup creation for my blog so that in the morning it will be ready to update.

I had some great time at WorkCampPH 2009 yesterday at the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) in Makati. The event was organized by MindanaoBloggers.com folks. This was my 2nd blogger event (first one was the Nuffnang and Goldilocks event at the Fort last month). Some highlights:

It was quite a challenge since internet connection in Manila is slow due to some underwater cables connecting the internet infrastructure in Asia was damaged. Just after 3 weeks of updating to Wordpress 2.8, I updated to 2.8.1 this weekend. I make it a point to update as soon as I have extra time since updating to the latest version is a good security practice for the blog.

I updated Menardconnect.com to Wordpress 2.8 over the weekend. The Wordpress.org site announced that this release is named in honor of noted trumpeter and vocalist Chet Baker. Major improvements to the 2.8 release were focused on speed, performance, widgets and themes support. The general look and feel is the same as 2.7x, but I noted some improvements on the admin console performance.
