I want to end the month of February with some great post 🙂
So in the tradition of my Free Six Video post, I am posting some Free Six Info about Philippine Lotto.
1. Where can I find Philippine Lotto Winning Results?
If you are searching for the results of Philippine Lotto, kindly visit PCSO search site and input draw dates and type of lotto your are searching for.
2. What is that number (the 6/49, 6/45 and 6/42) after the lotto word?
For Super Lotto 6/49, this means you have to choose 6 numbers from the 49 available numbers. And if you get all the 6 numbers in any order, then you win the jackpot. This goes the same for the Mega Lotto 6/45.
3. When is the draw days/dates?
The Super Lotto 6/49Â draws can be seen every Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays at 9:00 p.m on NBN Channel 4. The Mega Lotto 6/45Â draws can be seen every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9:00 p.m on the same channel.
4. How much is the biggest jackpot winnings in the recent times?
As far as I can remember in 2008 and 2009, the biggest jackpot was last week. The prize was 347,836,903 Philippine Pesos (around 7 Million US Dollars or 5.6 Million Euros) for Super Lotto 6/49 Draw on February 22, 2009. The winning combination was 06-34-20-26-12-33 and was reportedly won by 2 winners.
5. What are the chances of winning?
For Super lotto 6/49: this is 1 in 14 million (13,983,816 to be exact).
Really?
Yes!!!
Explanation:
There is this branch of mathematics called Probability (and Statistics)Â that deals with this complex calculation.
To explain the formula as simple as possible, let’s take the Super Lotto 6/49 as an example. There are 49 lotto balls at the start of the lotto draw, so there is 1 in 49 chance of getting that first number. When the draw comes to the second number, there are now only 48 balls left so there is 1 in 48 chance of getting that number. And so on… So the formula is 49 x 48 x 47 x 46 x 45 x 44 = 10,068,347,520 (around 10 Billion).
But we have to consider that the order of the number does not matter in Philippine Lotto. For example, if your lotto ticket has the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6, you win as long as all the numbers 1 through 6 are drawn, no matter what order they come out. So given any set of 6 numbers, there are 6 Ă— 5 Ă— 4 Ă— 3 Ă— 2 Ă— 1 = 720 possible ways it can be drawn.
Then we need to divide the 2 numbers 10,068,347,520/720 = 13,983,816
So this chances for winning is 1 in 14 million for the Super Lotto (49/6)
6. What do you have as Sixth info? Do you have some other crazy calculation?
OK, I know my post will get lot of criticism because of this crazy calculation. But let’s get it on….
So if the odds are 1 in 14 million, how much should my 1 ticket (worth 20 pesos) for Super Lotto 6/49 win in a Perfect World?
Warning and Disclaimer: This is perfect scenario OK? Where:
- There is at least one bet on each of the number combination (14 million).
- And all winnings will be given to that 1 winner.
The formula should be simple if 1 in 14 million chance, so 20 pesos X 14 = 280 Million Pesos jackpot prize.
So how come every time after a jackpot is won the pot prize for Super Lotto is always around 16 Million Pesos only? Where did the rest of the money/bet go?
C’mon Menard, there is NO such thing as PERFECT WORLD! The rest of the money goes to charity, taxes and other things!
Hehehe!
Peace!
