Yes to Quezon del Sur and Quezon del Norte

Uncategorized

YES. I support the move to split the Quezon Province into two: Quezon del Norte and Quezon del Sur. I read the facts and opinions expressed by both camps (and did some personal interview/chat with some people I know), and I agree more to the points raised by the pro split group.

I hail from the 4th district (Lopez, Quezon), and I know that this discussion was started way back in the 1990’s (possibly the 80’s) and personally for me this is really a done deal (discussions/hearings/etc) already. I am just a little bit surprised at the recent turn of events in the local scene (political figures switching stances, oh whatsnew 😀 ) but I firmly believe that is timely that the southern Quezon be given a chance to stand on its own. This will enable better accessibility and better management for the 3rd and 4th districts (as well as a better distribution of projects).

Republic Act No. 9495 (RA9495), states that Quezon Del Sur will be composed of  the towns of Agdangan, Buenavista, Catanauan, General Luna, Macalelon, Mulanay, Padre Burgos, Pitogo, San Andres, San Francisco, San Narciso, Unisan, Alabat, Atimonan, Calauag, Guinayangan, Gumaca, Lopez, Perez, Plaridel, Quezon and Tagkawayan.

Quezon Del Norte will be composed of cities of Lucena and Tayabas, and the towns of Burdeos, General Nakar, Infanta, Jomalig, Lucban, Mauban, Pagbilao, Panukulan, Patnanungan, Polilio, Real, Sampaloc, Candelaria, Dolores, San Antonio and Sariaya.

The last information I got was the plebiscite will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2008. I will try to get more up to date and insider info tomorrow and give updates to this blog
