I Won in Yugatech’s Merry Tweetmas Contest

We were already on our way to the province last week when my friends texted me that I won in Yugatech Merry Tweetmas Contest. Upon getting a decent internet connection there I visited Yuga’s blog and confirmed that I really won (on the blog category)! Nice Christmas gift 🙂 so I tweeted it here.

Today the Globe Tattoo package has arrived. I was out buying some stuff in the neighborhood store so Raven received it in my behalf.

Thanks to Yugatech and Globe Telecom for the wonderful Christmas gift!

Thanks also to Jeff for the text update and Congrats to Jyethrox and all the other winners of the merry tweetmas contest.

Visit Yugatech’s blog for more giveaways for this season.

Happy Holidays y’all 🙂 !

Update 2009.10.07

Raven and I were inquiring/looking at different music stores for the In Love and War Album, but we were unsuccessful 🙁 I checked Ely’s twitter page today and he tweeted last Oct.4 about the delay

In Love and War was supposed to come out today but Ondoy had other plans. Expect the album later this month

I will keep this post updated with new developments on the release.

IN LOVE AND WAR This will the final title of the project of Ely Buendia and Francis Magalona and it will released on October 5, 2009. Ely Buendia announced this via his twitter account yesterday. Quoting my retwit

RT @elybuendia9000: Francis Magalona/Ely Buendia project final title: IN LOVE AND WAR. Release date: October 5, 2009 8:02 PM Sep 4th

Ely also mentioned it will feature guest performances from Pupil, Hilera and Hardware Syndrome. The project was initially labeled as the Sickos Project, and because of the early passing of the Master Rapper its completion was put on hold. I heard news report that Pia Magalona promised that this album will pushed through and I’m happy that Ely finally announced it.

I’ve been longing for this album after the Eraserheads Concert 2009 so I’m definitely grabbing a copy of this IN LOVE AND WAR album. (Which reminds me I haven’t got my Superproxy t-shirt yet, poor me).

I’ll post here as soon as I have copy 🙂 and maybe a review of it too.

LongURL and the plugin for Firefox

URL shortening services are very useful and is great especially for those social networking sites (facebook, twitter, etc.). I have nothing against the use of TinyURL, bit.ly, is.gd, ping.fm and other URL shortening services. I am sharing the information that sometimes useful things are being abused by the bad guys. These bad guys can create malicious links and hide it using these URL shortening services.

For the security conscious individuals out there, they prefer to know where a link will lead them before they click on the link. A very helpful tool for this purpose is LongURL. You can manually enter those shortened URLs in the LongURL site and get the expanded URL. Or if you are using the Firefox browser you can try the LongURL Mobile Expander addon.

Quoting the Firefox addon page:

You should always know where a link takes you before clicking on it. Services like TinyURL.com make that difficult. LongURL Mobile Expander uses the LongURL.org web services to let you know where shortened links *really* go.

This is follow-up post for my fun article on GiantURL TinyURL article.

Hope you find this information useful 🙂

Menardconnect and Twitter

OK! I’m officially trying out this Twitter thing 🙂

I have been playing with this Twitter account several months ago but I believe it is underutilized, so I am planning to give it some boost.

So finally, I’ve added the Twit This WordPress code courtesy of Marghil Macuha, the cute twitter bird image courtesy of  TheDesignSuperHero and Designshoot, and the twittercounter widget (beside the feedburner in the sidebar).

So follow me on twitter ha 🙂

Update 05.28.2009
I’ve added a Follow Me on Twitter Widget courtesy of Siah Designs.

Twitter Hack Proof of Concept Released

They say twitter is one of the wonderful innovations in the web recently (or at least in the blogging world). And so I tried it out. I registered an account over the weekend. I posted my first twit update. I followed some bloggers. No one’s following me yet 🙂 . I installed twitterfox plugin. Set the privacy into high (Protect my updates). And then came upon this interesting news today:

A twitter proof of concept (POC) hack has been developed. The POC can change the twitter status of the user (what are you doing? feature) without the user knowing it. Following the developers blog, he introduced the readers (me included) the concept of clickjacking (hijacking the clicks of the user with malicious intent, this is the first time I’ve heard of this). Quoting the developers blog:

‘Clickjacking’, if you haven’t heard of it, is a method used by malicious individuals to trick users like you into clicking something without you knowing what you’ve clicked. It’s also known as UI-redressing and only works in browsers that support frames/CSS.

The idea is simple: An iframe is positioned above what looks like a clickable button on a website. This iframe is invisible to the user (opacity:0) and so the user unknowingly clicks on the iframe which may contain anything! This can be achieved through CSS alone, no JavaScript is required

Ouch! This one is familiar. Iframes with zero height zero width 🙁 . Can be used by bad guys to create malicious activities.

There seems to be no complete solution for this yet, but installing the NoScript firefox plugin will help Firefox users.

If you want to know more details, you can read the developers blog. The site has the POC link hosted there (WARNING: Twitter Kids: Try at your own risk, don’t blame me for any untoward events ok?). Clicking the button will add a new twit status “Yes, I did click the button!!! (WHAT!!??)

Or you can visit DarkReading Twitter article.

So will I gonna be forgetting about Twitter? No! I think not, but I will be keeping the protect my updates feature ON for now.
