Blizzard posted the official trailer of WoW Patch 5.4: Siege of Orgrimmar this week. Yes Orgrimmar will be under siege by both The Alliance and The Horde (see my previous post related to this topic)

Garrosh Hellscream (G.H.): Hmmm… it thirsts. Bring it to the pools!
Taran Zhu (T.Z.): Enough!!! You have run rampant for far too long, Hellscream. But that stops now.
G.H.: Hahahahaha… Step aside, Pandaren. You confront a force beyond reckoning.
T.Z.: Your father dabbled in powers beyond reckoning. Where is he now?
G.H.: Rrrryyaaaaahhhh!
T.Z.: I have fought beside the Tauren, Trolls, and others. You are nothing like them!
G.H.: They are no longer a part of my Horde!
T.Z.: The world will hear of this. *cough* They will come for you.
G.H.: Yes. I’m counting on it. The armies of the world will come for me, and within my fortress, they will face all the terrible creatures I have wrought, the boundless power I have mastered, and one by one, they will fall at my feet. Garrosh Hellscream’s treacherous excavation of the Vale of Eternal Blossoms has finished with sinister results — not just for Pandaria, but for all Azeroth.

New Raid: The Siege of Orgrimmar
– The Siege of Orgrimmar is a 3-wing, 14-boss raid for max-level players, which will call you to take down Warchief Garrosh Hellscream at the head of a host of Azeroth’s finest.

New Raid Mode: Flexible
– Raid with a group of friends and guild mates regardless of server, and with any group size from 10 to 25, and the difficulty will automatically adjust to provide an appropriately challenging experience.

New Feature: Proving Grounds
– Undertake solo trials to practice or learn a new class role (Tank, Healer, or Damage). Each trial is available in multiple difficulties — Bronze through Gold and the challenging ‘Endless’ mode.

New Zone: The Timeless Isle
– Giant outdoor zone promoting open-world adventuring with tons of hidden treasures, giant creatures to defeat, five world bosses, a pet battle tournament, and much more!

Legendary Quest: Judgment of the Black Prince
– The epic conclusion to the Legendary quest line will see players rewarded with unique cloaks imbued with powerful new abilities.

New Feature: Connected Realms
– Lower population realms will be permanently and seamlessly “linked.” Players on the same Connected Realm will be able to trade, send and receive mail, join the same guilds, access a single Auction House, run the same Raids and Dungeons, and join other adventurers to complete quests.

PvP: Redesigned Arena System
– Arenas are no longer tied to specific Battlegroups, and players no longer need to create or join an Arena team to compete. Similar to the Rated Battleground system, players in a party of the appropriate size can queue.

I have watched related videos and it got very interesting storyline. Will do a follow up post on this patch over the weekend 🙂 For now I need to do some training and preps!!!

To end this post: let me leave some one-liner to Garrosh: “We will come for you and you will answer for your crimes!!!”

Blizzard highlighted major World of Warcraft characters in the website this week by launching The Characters of Warcraft. I got alerted on this via the WoW game launcher

 

And after some clicking around the website, I felt happy that they are featuring the great characters from the Warcraft lore. I’m an avid fan of the lore as I collect (and read) most of their World of Warcraft books. Blizz introduced the Warcraft heroes with the caption:

The heroes and villains of Warcraft stand larger than life, even in a world engulfed by constant conflict. Below, we’ve collected the personal histories and war stories of Azeroth’s paragons. Will you fight beside them, follow them…or topple them?

And then you will have Varian, Garrosh, Vol’jin, Lei Shin and others highlighted on the cover page. Clicking on the Warcraft heroes, the website will usually show 2 paragraph shorties, one describing the history of the character and the last paragraph their recent role, activities, highlights after the opening of the Mist in Pandaria. Screenshots, artworks and other links related the Warcraft lore characters are also featured in each page.

 

If you are not into the Warcraft lore that much, I guess this is a good introduction to the characters and heroes. But if you are a Warcraft lore geek, maybe it’s not that much new information. But overall we should be glad that Blizzard is promoting the Warcraft lore more now

So who is your favorite Characters of Warcraft?

Blizzard deployed WoW Patch 5.3 after server maintenance this week. Patch 5.3, dubbed as “Escalation” is a major patch and it contains a lot of new content and fixes.

The battle for Pandaria is approaching a fever pitch. Her resources are plundered. Her earth is scoured. The Alliance and the Horde are at each other’s throats – but great dangers lurk within their own ranks.

While Warchief Garrosh Hellscream’s excavation squads bore deep into Pandaria’s Vale of Eternal Blossoms in search of chthonic power, Taran Zhu, lord of the Shado-Pan, grows increasingly concerned about the presence of outsiders in his homeland. Meanwhile, in search of new soldiers to shore up his war in Pandaria, King Varian Wrynn has been forced to turn to the Dark Iron Dwarf Princess Moira for aid.

The struggle for Pandaria threatens to engulf all Azeroth, and you’re at the forefront of the conflict.

I am also excited about the following wow content/lore updates:

• Battlefield:Barrens (I won’t give spoilers but this will be the staging point for the Darkspear rebellion)
• Cool new character title “Darkspear Revolutionary” for the Horde (sorry I have no active alliance toon to get the counterpart title “Hordebreaker”)
• Level 85-90 XP requirements reduced by 33% in this patch. (Yo! Time to max the alts!)

I really love the Warcraft lore so I’m glad that finally Vol’jin and the Darkspears are now leading some revolt against Garrosh. I have just finished reading the Tides of War novel several weeks ago, and every time I see Garrosh in-game I make it a point to “/rude” him whichever toon I’m logged in 🙂 . I also remember doing some wow scenario last year (the one where Garrosh ordered Vol’jin killed but the troll shadow hunter mon survived) and I’m loving how this “oust Garrosh” plot is turning out.

I have written a lot of World of Warcraft posts here in Menardconnect.com ever since WoW Cataclysm was announced but I noticed that none of those posts directly relates to the World of Warcraft Philippines setting.

I have played both in the World of Warcraft retail server and the World of Warcraft private server so I guess I can post something informative here about playing World of Warcraft in the Philippines.

For this post I will focus on World of Warcraft retail servers.

If you have a good and stable Internet connection and a PC or Mac that meets the minimum requirement then you are good to go. Playing World of Warcraft up to Level 20 is FREE. Blizzard has released the World of Warcraft Starter Edition that will enable players to try out the game for free.

What is the World of Warcraft Starter Edition?

The World of Warcraft Starter Edition allows players to access World of Warcraft for free — all you need is a Battle.net account and an Internet connection. Starter Edition players can play up to a maximum character level of 20 and are able to upgrade to a full, paid account at any time, allowing them to continue their adventures where they left off. The Starter Kit gives gamers who are interested in trying out World of Warcraft a chance to experience the game before purchasing a copy

Here are the steps:

1. Just visit

www.warcraft.com

2. Register there and create your Battle.net account

3. Download the game

And you are ready to play World of Warcraft in the Philippines or wherever you are.

Choose your realm and get ready to choose between the Horde and Alliance races.

Personally, I believe level 20 is a good level cap for the free World of Warcraft Starter Edition because if you reach this level, you have a good grasp of the World of Warcraft Race and Class that you have chosen.

If you don’t like you race and class, you can create another character and try it out again.

If you like your World of Warcraft character and will like to continue, this is the time that you need to buy the game (and buy some game time too). You can buy World of Warcraft online if you have credit card, or if you want to have a boxed copy of the game, try to buy from local electronics and game stores in the Philippines like Datablitz.

The World of Warcraft vanilla and its first expansion Burning Crusade is now bundled and it come with a 30-day game time. After that you can either buy game time from local electronics/game stores or pay subscription using your credit card. And you progress in the game, you need to buy the expansion packs, Wrath of the Lich King and Cataclysm.
